NSW Bin Trim Rebates Program
Start your waste management journey and save up to 50% on equipment costs
Who can apply?
To be eligible for the program, businesses must meet the following criteria:
Businesses that have a commercial and industrial (C&I) waste service at a site in NSW; have a valid ABN and employ one or more full time employees in NSW; and send C&I waste to landfill in NSW. See the guidelines (PDF 562KB) for details.
Businesses can include entities that are registered charities, not-for-profits, public entities (including schools and hospitals), and government organisations.
Eligible equipment
- balers
- bulk bag stands and bulk bags
- cardboard perforator
- commercial worm farms
- compactors
- glass crushers
- granulators
- organics rapid decomposition units (where output is sent to a licenced composting facility)
- plastic injection moulders
- shredders
- smart scales and other food waste monitoring equipment
- source separation bins, wheelie bins, skip bins and other bin equipment – with bin signs and stickers
- trolleys to transport waste and maximise waste separation and diversion

Have a clear understanding of your business waste generation patterns, waste volume and waste types. Complete the initial waste assessment through the Bin Trim App or contact Bin Trim directly at bin.trim@epa.nsw.gov.au.
We will work closely with your business to identify, design and implement tailored waste management systems that align with your requirements.
Following the initial waste assessment, applicants must Form 1 – Application Form (with required attachments) on https://epa.smartygrants.com.au/.
EPA will assess and decide on your application around 4 to 6 weeks after you submitted your Form 1.
You must accept and execute the rebate within 30 days of receiving the Funding Deed.
Within 3 months of executing a Funding Deed, applicants must procure, install and commence use of equipment or technology.
